Is there any other method available to extend views in the material Master for many materials other that MM50

Hi SAP Gurus,

I want to extend Forecasting view in the materials master. I need to carry out this activity for app. 160000 Materials ( 4000 Materials in 40 Plants).

I am presently doing with MM50 but it is a very tedious and time consuming activity.

I checked SAP SCN earlier posting's,  where it is mentioned one another way is using a BDC ? I am not familiar with BDC and I am PP consultant ?

Pl suggest me and the steps involved on creating a BDC and do the Material master view extension.
