At least one of the 3rd-party Crystal Reports Viewers listed at http://kenhamady.com/bookmarks.html has a Crystal 8.5 version (as well as 9, XI R2, and 2011). The vendor provides a 30-day evaluation upon request, so you can confirm it solves the issue.
